I had my second fitting last Saturday. And again, the feeling was surreal but I felt calmer this time around. Plus I came prepared. Ha ha! I've brought with me my shoes and jewelries to check if they would go well with my dress. I'm kinda proud of myself cos I've my choice of accessories earned nods of approval from my couturier, coordinator and mommy dear :) But you know what the best part is.. they could now zip my gown easily :P
That part of the agenda done, my mom and I went to shop for her shoes. My mom is very particular with shoes cos she wanted them to be very comfortable. We weren't so lucky to find my mom her shoes so we decided to schedule another mall visit and hit the supermarket to buy groceries for my cooking demo for Myke and his mom :D MEETING DE FAMILIA To demonstrate my ability of being a good wife, I decided to cook for Myke and my FMIL (future mother-in-law) who decided to visit yesterday. I've been looking around the Home Cooking Rocks site to look for easy to prepare recipes. I decided to make Chocolate and Coffee Panna Cotta (which I already tried last Christmas) and the Fish and Tokwa. For the greens, I just thought of making brocolli with oyster sauce. Since I have to let the panna cotta set, I prepared this the day before. Well, I must have miscalculated the measurements (since I was attempting to make a big batch) because the gelatin didn't set. I've tried to do some damage control by adding more gelatin to the coffee layer but it still didn't harden. I decided to let it sit overnight hoping it will set. Come yesterday morning (the day of the visit), I was excited to taste my panna cotta that I ate a small cup for breakfast. This small act of katakawan turned out to be a bad decision. A very bad decision. I am now feeling A+ after yesterday. :D So? Updates? Hmm.. After two days of cutting, sticking and printing, our invitations have finally been assembled and are now ready for distribution. Don't get us wrong, the Wink invitations are great but we wanted to add a few additional touches :) I'll probably post the details on my post-wedding kwento though I'd let Che, a friend and co-W @Wie have a peek on our actual invites since we have the same invitation supplier (at usisera kasi siya. Ha ha! Peace, Che!). Some of the invites have been distributed already especially those for our colleagues. Some, which are for mailing, have been addressed and are just waiting to be dropped at the post office :) a photo journal would do (I guess). Sorry folks but you have to make do with those. I'd post a more decent entry when I feel better.
Finally got our invites! Yay!
Myke and I picked up our invitations from Wink last Friday. We had a very pleasant transaction with them though our AE missed one of my instruction (more of that on my supplier ratings na lang) but we figured not to make a big deal out of it. I really love our layout. My BFF said it looked really clean (aesthetically) and very cute. Cute isn't really what I envisioned it to be but I'm easy to please so I'd take any compliment gratefully :) After that, I shopped for some specialty boards at National Bookstore where we could print our map. I couldn't find ecru colored papers that has the same shade as our invitation so I settled for pale cream ones to match the envelopes instead. I doubled up the quantity so I could use the same for our missals (less hassle and less headache on decision making. Hi hi!). That part of the shopping done, I mentally went over the things Myke and I had to attend to ASAP: Myke and I had a little R&R last Saturday although we did some wedding related chores on the side. We headed first to the Manila Cathedral to submit some required forms and pay out the balance and some other additional fees. A quick trip to the Postal Office and then we're off to the mall :) Side kwento: Myke's brother who is to be our groomsman is currently working at UAE and he needed our invitation so he could show it to his boss when he asks for a leave. And because of that, sending him the invites was a priority. We first inquired at LBC for their courier service cost and we were quoted a whooping Php 2000! I was like, "WTF?!". And mind you, it wasn't a next day delivery. Sheesh! So we headed to the Post Office and we were relieved that they have express delivery for only P480. I know that most are a bit reluctant to trust our postal service but we had to give it a shot cos the 2000 peso LBC fee isn't really practical especially since we had to allocate our budget wisely. With some of the legwork done, we had a nice lunch at one of my fave resto, Sbarro. I usually order their ziti or spaghetti but I decided to give their Puttanesca a try. Well, it wasn't really that good cos the sauce of my pasta was dry. The fish in marinara sauce was good though so was Myke's Angus steak deep dish pizza. He he!
Our church coordinator sent us a text message the other day reminding us that tomorrow is the deadline of submission of some of the forms needed for wedding. As I was rooting through my files to check which forms have to be filled-up and submitted, I came upon the handouts they gave us during our pre-cana seminar. I know you probably want to puke already with mushy, lovey-dovey entries I have here but I really wanted to share this with you cos it's a really nice and helpful read for anyone who is contemplating of marriage, is getting married (me, me, me! :D) or is already married. Anyone who is in a relationship would totally relate to this. So, read on guys. RULES FOR A HAPPY MARRIAGE • Never both be angry at the same time. • Never yell at each other unless the house is on fire. • If one of you has to win an argument, let it be your mate. • Never bring up past mistakes. • If you have to criticize, do it lovingly. • Neglect the whole world rather than each other. • Never go to sleep with an argument unsettled. • At least once every day try to say one kind or complimentary thing to your life's partner. • When you have done something wrong, be ready to admit it and ask for forgiveness. • It takes two to make a quarrel and the one in the wrong is the one who does the most talking. Stay happy. Stay in-love, everyone!
I had a surreal experience yesterday. You see, I had my gown fitting yesterday. I had been mum to Myke and most of my friends regarding the design of my gown. I've only shown it only a trusted few cos I want the guests to watch in awe when I take that walk down the aisle :P Ok, ok. I'm exaggerating but I do want them to have something to look forward to (cos the bride is always THE star. Har har!). Anyway, Ruel spoiled my surprise when he pointed out to Myke my gown when he accompanied his mom for her gown fitting. Grrr. But Myke kept assuring me that it wasn't as if the gown is finished already. But still... *grumble*grumble* To keep things a bit more complicated, Myke was with us during my gown fitting :( I noticed though that he stepped outside the shop when I had the dress on. And here I was thinking I will take his breath away when he sees me for the first time. *sigh* Well, all that seemed petty when saw I myself in the mirror. The dress is beautiful even if there isn't any straps or beading yet and the hemline is way too long. And well, I just felt really pretty :) I was thinking, "Dang! I already looked good in this simple strapless gown. How much more if I'm all dolled up?". Ha ha ha! While we were coordinating our wedding invitation with Wink, I've asked our friend Mao to design our map.
We considered asking Wink to include the map on the wedding invites but we will have to shell out an additional one thousand bucks for it. And we have to provide the map design. I haven't found a really nice map that would go well with our chosen invitation layout plus I'm a Photoshop newbie so I'm afraid to botch the whole thing if I was gonna take a stab at it. So I've asked Mao for a favor, :) Got a nice surprise today :) I got an email from Photobook this morning saying that our book order has been forwarded to shipping already. That alone made me excited but I didn't expect that I'd get it today! My colleagues who got a peek are now itching to write on them :P But for now, it'll stay put (safe in bubble wrap and carton box) until needed. Tee hee!
